PURPOSE: To provide guidelines for recognition of employees who resign or retire from Trident Technical College, and for hosting other unofficial (non-College sponsored) events for employees.

 

OFFICIAL RECOGNITION FOR EMPLOYEES RETIRING FROM THE COLLEGE

The Human Resources Department staff organizes an annual retirement event and selects retiree gifts on behalf of the College. The Human Resources Department staff coordinates this event with the President's office. The retirement event and retiree gifts are eligible Employee Quality Assurance activities pursuant to TTC Policy 6-15-0.

UNOFFICIAL (NON-COLLEGE SPONSORED) ACTIVITIES 

  1. TIME AND LOCATION 
    Employees may recognize an employee who is leaving the College through retirement or resignation with an activity or drop-in. Event planners may invite Trident Technical College employees and the honored employee's immediate family (spouse and children). Employees may also arrange other social events, including but not limited to showers, birthday or holiday parties. These unofficial activities must take place:
    1. during a one-hour lunch break; or
    2. between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  2. FUNDING 
    Refreshments or other costs associated with unofficial activities may not be funded from departmental or any other College budgets including grants. The College's Culinary Arts department may not cater these unofficial activities.
  3. APPROVAL 
    Event planners and employees attending on campus, unofficial activities must have prior approval from their supervisors.
