Trident Technical College employees may participate in political activities, including running for federal, state, county, and local offices, or taking part in the management of any political party or political campaign. Such participation must not negatively affect the employee’s job performance.
Employees who are candidates for political office may be required to take annual leave, take leave without pay, or adjust his/her workweek to prevent payment of state monies for any time associated with his/her candidacy or if the employee’s candidacy negatively affects his/her job performance. The supervisor and/or vice president must consult with the Human Resources Director prior to requiring the employee to take leave.
Trident Technical College employees seeking political office must not use state resources to solicit votes or for campaign fund raising. These prohibited resources include, but are not limited to, intercampus mail; college mailing lists; or college provided office supplies, computers, telephones, facsimile machines or copiers.
