Academic Advising

Advising is the process of determining what your academic plan is in terms of courses. It is very specific to your intended degree, and thus, varies from program to program. If you are in a non-transfer degree program, use the ADVISING column. If you plan to transfer to a four-year college or university, use the UNIVERSITY TRANSFER ADVISING column.

Our goal is to help you make the best possible use of your resources to accomplish your academic goals. Use the information below to learn more.

What

Advising allows you to plan your academic path from beginning to end. You think about where you want to be at the end of the path, and that way, determine what classes you need to get to the end you envision.

Transfer advising allows you to determine which classes you need to take to ensure a seamless transition to your transfer college. You will need to be proactive in this process, since you have to identify the transfer college and your intended program of study.

When

Create your path at the start, after you have completed Orientation, and discuss your path with your advisor each semester, especially if you decide you wish to make changes in your end goal.

You should begin exploration of transfer institutions during the first 30 hours of work at TTC, and be ready to discuss at length with your faculty advisor thereafter.
