Industrial Mechanic Technician Assistant Program

What can I do in industrial maintenance mechanics?

Industrial maintenance mechanics repair and maintain commercial or industrial machinery. Many industrial maintenance mechanics are skilled in vibration analysis, electrical troubleshooting, drive system repair and hydraulic/pneumatic system troubleshooting and repair. Some general maintenance mechanics troubleshoot and repair heating and air conditioning systems and electrical control systems as well as complete preventive maintenance on many types of machinery.

What characteristics and skills do I need to work in this field?

It is not surprising that troubleshooting skills are important in this field, since industrial maintenance mechanics must observe and properly diagnose and fix problems. Technical skills are needed to work with the diagnostic equipment. Manual dexterity and mechanical skills, such as reassembling large machines, are essential.

Where can I work?

Most industrial maintenance mechanics work in plants, factories, utilities and construction sites. General maintenance mechanics work in hotels, manufacturing plants, hospitals and government agencies, just to name a few.

What does Trident Technical College offer?

Mechanical skills are stressed in TTC’s Industrial Maintenance program along with electrical training for machinery repair technicians.
