Air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics install, troubleshoot and repair equipment from the smallest window unit to the largest climate control systems in enormous facilities. Mechanics install, maintain and service ice machines, walk-in coolers, refrigerated water coolers and even the ice floor used by ice skaters and hockey players.

What characteristics and skills do I need to work in this field?

Good interpersonal and communication skills are important. You must be able to stoop, bend, climb and work in awkward positions. Good eyesight, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and the ability to concentrate are required.
