How to Apply and Register

Applying to the college is easy (and free)!

Now it is time to get down to business and start your college career. Below are five steps to help you apply to the college, register and get ready for class!

1. Apply Now

Apply Now -Whether you are a new applicant to TTC or a returning student, create an account on Apply Now and complete the online application. Check out the how-to video on this page for step-by-step instructions.

Once you have completed and submitted your application, you will be able to view any supplemental items needed to complete your application steps on your Apply Now account.

  • Proof of high school graduation or a GED (required to receive financial aid)
    • Copy of high school diploma or GED
    • Official high school transcript showing graduation date (preferred)
      • You may ask your high school to send a copy to, have it mailed directly from your school, or hand deliver to TTC Admissions in a sealed envelope with the high school’s credentials/logo on the outside.
      • Request a copy online from Parchment (there is a fee); electronic copy sent to TTC.

  • Verification of legal presence in the United States
    • Required for all new applicants, per South Carolina law
    • For most students the documentation required is a clear photocopy of a driver’s license, beginner’s permit, or state-issued identification card.
    • For more details and examples of documents that can be used, please visit the SC Illegal Immigration Reform Act page

  • Placement testing for math and English coursework
    • Valid, qualifying SAT/ACT test scores: a. SAT: 530 Evidenced-based Reading & Writing, 600 Math, b. ACT: 19 English, 22 Math.
    • ACCUPLACER Placement Test (FREE in the TTC Testing Center).
    • Weighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher (final, official transcript required).
    • High school diploma or GED plus D2L math placement test.
    • Prior college credits in math and/or English.
    • A Student Success Coach or academic advisor can help you choose the best option.

2. Financial Aid

Financial Aid - Apply for all aid, including SC lottery-funded tuition assistance, by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Some state scholarships (LIFE) and aid programs may not require a FAFSA, but students are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA and have their results sent to TTC.

3. Orientation

Orientation - Complete a Navigate to Success session in-person or online.

4. Register

Register - Make an appointment and meet with your assigned academic advisor or success coach (formerly navigator) to register for classes. Once you register, purchase your books and obtain your Student ID.

5. Pay Tuition

Pay Tuition - Pay tuition and fees by the published deadlines.

Attend Classes - Congratulations! You are now ready to attend class. Check the calendar to see when classes start. Be sure to attend class or log in and participate in an online class on the first day so you are not dropped from the class roster.

Online Application

Save time – upload or email your documentation
Once you have submitted your application through Apply Now, you can upload many of your required documents instead of waiting in line! Required documents may include a state-issued ID card/driver's license, copy of high school diploma/GED, high school transcripts, and any standardized test results (SAT/ACT/ACCUPLACER). When submitting official documents from other sources, such as official college or high school transcripts, please have any documents sent directly from the college/school to or through services like the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. If electronic submission is not possible, please have them mailed directly to the Admissions office at Trident Technical College.

If you have questions about determining or establishing classification as a South Carolina resident for tuition purposes, you may visit the Residency page or email specific questions to Norman Ashbee, Admissions residency coordinator, at
