Applying for Financial Aid
Visit www.studentaid.gov to create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID). You’ll need your Social Security number (if applicable) and your own email address to create an FSA ID.
Completing the FAFSA at studentaid.gov is the key to finding out your eligibility for federal and state financial aid as well as some scholarships. The FAFSA determines your Student Aid Index (SAI). The SAI is a number between -1500 and 999999, calculated using a specific formula. This number helps your school decide how much financial support you might need. Click here to learn more about the SAI.
To continue receiving financial aid, reapply each academic year (preferably in October). Complete the new FAFSA early for the best financial aid package.
TIP: TTC processes financial aid on a rolling basis. It’s best to complete your FAFSA and submit any required verification as early as you can.
IMPORTANT:Include TTC's school code004920on your FAFSA application so Trident Technical College will receive your FAFSA. Your completed FAFSA must show TTC's school code and codes for any other colleges you want to receive your FAFSA.
After you submit your FAFSA, you will receive a Financial Submission Summary (FSS) that summarizes the information you provided. Be sure to check it carefully to make sure it is accurate and complete.
Many students are randomly selected for verification. That means that the federal government has asked for additional information about your FAFSA, like federal tax forms, W2s and other information. If you are selected for verification, you will be notified on your Student Aid Report (SAR). You need to complete a verification worksheet found on the my.tridenttech.edu student portal and submit it, along with any requested documentation, to a Financial Aid office on any campus. For more verification information, click here.
To apply, click here. Once admitted, you will receive a student email account in the my.tridenttech.edu student portal. This email account is how TTC’s Financial Aid office will communicate with you.
Trident Technical College should receive your FAFSA within 7-10 business days after you complete it online. The Financial Aid office may need additional information from you, so check your email regularly and respond to requests for information promptly. Check out Important Steps for info on when you should complete the FAFSA and submit all other required documents.
TIP:Once admitted, review your financial aid information in the Self Service module in the my.tridenttech.edu portal.
