All applicants must provide proper documentation to prove their legal status and that they are within their current authorized period of stay.
The expiration date of the driver's license will be determined by the applicant's authorized period of stay in the United States or the expiration date of the applicant's employment authorization document.
If the applicant is applying for a driver's license, they must submit a valid driver's license from their country of origin as proof of prior driving experience. The driver's license information must be translated into English or be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. Applicants who cannot show proof of prior driving experience must first obtain a beginner's permit and hold it for 180 days before applying for a driver's license.
