     Medical Assistant (MA) Training Program
     April 4-Sept. 26, 2022: class meets 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4-7 p.m. on Fridays.
     Oct. 3-Nov. 4, 2022: externship meets 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This is an all inclusive program including tuition, books, drug screen and background report prior to externship, for students that complete the Scholarship application.


Certification: Upon successful completion of this program, you are eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant examination given by the American Medical Technologists Association (AMT). 

 


Registration Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age, a high school graduate or possess an equivalency (GED) and provide a copy of a Driver's License or proof of identification.
  • Complete prescreening requirements in Reading, Writing and Math using the standardized Accuplacer test offered through TTC’s Testing Center in the Student Center (Bldg. 410) at Trident Technical College Thornley Campus. The minimum scores that must be achieved are 240 in Reading, Writing, and in Math. 
  • Complete the Scholarship application. Once completed, Registration will contact the student via email.
  • Registration closes 3 business days prior to the course start date.

 
Textbooks and supplies included:

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual by AHA, and CPR mask.
  • Cengage, Medical Assisting 9th edition by Blesi with Mindtap online version thru Cengage Unlimited 12 month access card.  
  • Blood pressure cuff and stethoscope.

 

Uniform required (not included):

  • Scrubs (navy blue)
  • Nursing shoes (white) flat, closed-toe and closed-ankle
  • Hair, nails and jewelry must present a professional image

 

Externship Information:

  • Prior to externship, clinical sites require students show history documentation of:
    • MMR, a two-step PPD, a Flu and Covid 19 vaccination, tetanus vaccine, hepatitis B, drug screen and background report.
    • Major medical insurance.
