Alternative Loans
An alternative (also called private) loan is a loan through a commercial lender. Alternative loans generally have higher interest rates than federal loan programs and eligibility is based on creditworthiness, not financial need. The Division of Education does not endorse or recommend any specific lender for private loans. The Division does recommend that thorough research and information is obtained in order to make an informed decision prior to obtaining a private loan. Learn More >
