Selected participants hear from industry leaders and use state of the art equipment in the South Carolina Aeronautical Training Center at Thornley Campus as they learn about the wide variety of positions in manufacturing, from machining and robotics, to marketing and logistics. Monday through Thursday students will learn about and get hands-on experience with current trends and practices in high-tech manufacturing as well as develop and complete a group project. On Friday students will present their group projects to faculty, industry leaders, and family, followed by a catered recognition luncheon.
The week-long full-day program will be offered twice in 2023.
LAMI is funded through a U.S. Department of Defense grant, National Defense Education Program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education, Outreach and Workforce Initiative Programs, titled BOOMING in STEM. It is free to participants; however, space is limited. Rising high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply online.
Applications for the 2023 DoDSTEM Summer Camps will be available in Spring 2023.
