PURPOSE: To establish Trident Technical College’s procedure on the use and distribution of college-owned assets/information.
Use and Distribution of college-owned assets and information
This procedure promulgates in furtherance of the College’s responsibility to promote the efficiency of its educational and public services and to protect college assets.
The College may disseminate published lists such as: faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, donors, and volunteers to the College or to the College Foundation, etc. However, the College is not required to produce additional distribution lists that are not already compiled.
The unauthorized distribution, release, use, or sale of business records, employee lists, data bases, or any other personally identifiable information, or other college, or Foundation, or Alumni records maintained in the course of business, is prohibited, except as noted in paragraph 2. Authorization for release of any such record requires the written permission of the appropriate Vice President and then the President.
A College employee who violates this procedure will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Violations of this procedure are in violation of the South Carolina Ethics Act. Employees and former employees, who violate this procedure, will be subject to civil and/or criminal prosecution.
