Senior Citizens
You are over 60 years of age and a legal resident of South Carolina and would like to take selected courses at Trident Tech.
Courses are offered on a space-available basis without paying for tuition. Senior citizens using the free tuition benefit may begin registering for classes on the last business day prior to the first day of classes for each term up until the end of the Drop/Add period.

1. Placement testing for math and English coursework
- Valid, qualifying SAT/ACT test scores*
- Next-Gen ACCUPLACER Placement Test* (FREE in the TTC Testing Center)
- Weighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher (final, official transcript required)
- High school diploma or GED plus D2L Math Placement Test
- Prior college credits in math and/or English
A Student Success Coach or academic advisor can help you choose the best option.
*Notes:
Math - You will need to provide one of the following scores or higher: SAT Math 521, ACT Math 24, Next-Gen ACCUPLACER Arithmetic 277, weighted high school GPA 4.0, D2L Math Placement Test 90, prior college credits in math. If your scores are lower than these, you will be required to take a corequisite math course.
English - You will need to provide one of the following scores or higher to show English proficiency: ACT English 19, SAT Evidence-based Reading & Writing 520, Next-Gen ACCUPLACER, prior college credits in English.
All scores have a 5-year expiration date from the time of testing.
2. Proof of high school graduation or a GED (required to receive financial aid)
- Copy of high school diploma or GED

- Official high school transcript showing graduation date (preferred)
- You may ask your high school to send a copy to admissionsdocs@tridenttech.edu, have it mailed directly from your school, or hand deliver to TTC Admissions in a sealed envelope with the high school’s credentials/logo on the outside.
- Request a copy online from Parchment (there is a fee); electronic copy sent to TTC.
3. Verification of legal presence in the United States
- Required for all new applicants, per South Carolina law
- For most students, the documentation required is a clear photocopy of a driver’s license, beginner’s permit, or state-issued identification card.

This form must be completed and submitted to Trident Tech's Business office before registration. A copy can be obtained from the Business office or printed online here.
You will receive an acknowledgement email with your student portal login information, then this step can be completed.
Refer to your application acknowledgement email to verify the initial residency status under which you have been determined.
