Health Sciences Program Admission
Take the first three steps below and then finish the remaining steps under your program of study to apply.
In addition to meeting the college’s general admission requirements, including submission of official high school and college transcripts, applicants must complete all of the following requirements:
- Apply to Trident Technical College and choose your correct Health Science Preparation Certificate as your major.
- Once accepted, apply to the program by completing the Health Sciences Application and be on the lookout for an email from the Health Sciences Admissions Coordinator
regarding next steps.
Note: A student can only have one active Health Science application open at a time, unless otherwise approved by the Health Sciences Dean’s office. - Attend a mandatory program information session. Information sessions will be offered monthly, and the information session schedule will be updated on this website at the start of each semester (for the Veterinary Technology program, complete the online information session).

5. Review the Program Information and Sample Program and register for classes. Learn about how to register or contact your advisor.
6. Complete BIO 210 and BIO 211 Anatomy and Physiology I and II, BIO 225 Microbiology and CHM 105 General Organic and Biochemistry with a minimum grade of C.
Note: Laboratory science courses must have been taken within five years of acceptance into the program. The applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA in the four required science courses listed above.
7. Submit a Dental Hygiene Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of 15 hours of observation of a licensed dental hygienist working in a dental practice. The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
8. After completing BIO 210, BIO 211, BIO 225, and CHM 105, the Dental Hygiene Information Session, and submitting the Dental Hygiene Observation hours, then submit the statement of completion form.

6. Submit a Dental Assisting Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of five hours of observation in General Dentistry of a Certified Dental Assistant, graduate of an ADA accredited Dental Assisting Program, or an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant. The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
7. After you complete the Dental Assisting Information Session and submit the Dental Assisting Observation Hours, then submit the statement of completion form.

Note: BIO 112 must have been taken within five years of acceptance into the program.
7. Achieve a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA at the time of acceptance into the program based on classes at your most recently attended institution taken within five years of acceptance into the program.
8. After completing the Health Information Management admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

Complete BIO 210 (Anatomy and Physiology I), BIO 211 (Anatomy and Physiology II), MAT 120 (Probability and Statistics), PSY 201 (General Psychology), PSY 203 (Human Growth and Development), ENG 101 (English Composition I), and a college-approved Humanities elective; completing each with a minimum grade of C.
Note: Laboratory science courses (BIO 210 and 211) must have been taken within five years of acceptance into the program. The applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in the two required science courses (BIO 210 and 211) and the math course (MAT 120).
7. Submit an Occupational Therapy Assistant Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of 40 hours spent in occupational therapy facilities. While all 40 hours may be completed in a hospital, it is preferred that the observation hours be divided between hospital and non-hospital facilities. The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
8. After completing the Occupational Therapy Assistant admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

6. Complete BIO 210 (Anatomy and Physiology I), BIO 211 (Anatomy and Physiology II), MAT 120 (Probability and Statistics), Behavioral/Social Science (PSY 201-General Psychology preferred), ENG 101 (English Composition I), and a college approved Humanities elective, each with a minimum grade of C.
Note: Both BIO 210 and BIO 211 must be completed within five years of acceptance in the program.
Laboratory science courses must have been taken within five years of acceptance into the program. The applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in the two required science courses (BIO 210 and 211), math (MAT 120), and English (ENG 101).
7. The PTA Program has a Repeat Rule regarding admissions. Students cannot repeat more than four of the six prerequisite courses, and no prerequisite may be attempted more than two times.
8. Submit a Physical Therapist Assistant Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of 40 hours spent in physical therapy facilities. While all 40 hours may be completed in a hospital, it is preferred that the observation hours be divided between hospital and non-hospital facilities with a minimum of 20 hours completed in an inpatient acute-care or acute rehab hospital facility. The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
9. After completing the Physical Therapist Assistant admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

7. Submit a Radiologic Technology Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of eight hours of observation in diagnostic radiology in a hospital setting. At least six of the eight hours must be spent observing general diagnostic radiography procedures. No more than two of the eight hours may be completed in a specialty imaging area, such as:
- Computed Tomography (CT)
- Mammography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Interventional Radiology
- Other advanced imaging specialties
- The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
8. After completing the Radiologic Technology admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

9. After completing the Respiratory Care admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

Note: Both BIO 210 and AHS 104 must be completed within five years of acceptance in the program. The applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA in these two prerequisite courses.
7. Submit a Surgical Technology Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of eight hours of observation in an operating room, in either a hospital or surgical center. The applicant is responsible for the observation experience.
8. After completing the Surgical Technology admission requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

6. Complete BIO 101 (Biological Science I), BIO 225 (Microbiology), and VET 105 (Orientation to Veterinary Technology) with a minimum grade of C.

The applicant must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the time of acceptance into the program, based on classes taken at the most recently attended institution within five years of acceptance.
7. Submit a Veterinary Technology Observation Form to HealthSciencesAdmissions@tridenttech.edu documenting a minimum of 20 hours of observation in an animal care facility with a veterinarian present.

8. After submitting the Health Sciences application, the student will receive details in their Trident Tech email from the Health Sciences Admissions Coordinator regarding the Information Session and quiz. Students must score 100% on the online quiz after the session to verify that the information was reviewed and understood.
9. After completing the Veterinary Technology admissions requirements, submit the statement of completion form.

11. Complete rabies pre-exposure rabies vaccination series prior to the start of the VET 160 class, which is offered in the Program's second (Spring) semester.
