Dental Assisting Accreditation Information
The Expanded Duty Dental Assisting program prepares students for dental assisting procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Graduates are certified in infection control, radiation health and safety, and are eligible for certification in monitoring nitrous oxide sedation by the South Carolina Board of Dentistry. Upon satisfactory completion of the Dental Assisting National Board, graduates are designated certified dental assistants (CDA).
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average annual salary for an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant in the U.S. is $44,820 as of 2022 (this varies greatly depending on the state and setting). The Dental Assisting career is expected to grow by 11% from 2020 to 2030, which is faster than average.
