DEFINITION OF DIGITAL RESOURCES: Digital resources are defined as digital, electronic, streaming video, audio recordings, CDs, DVDs, and subscription databases.
- SELECTION OF DIGITAL RESOURCES
Acquisition of digital resources will be evaluated by the same standards as print materials in terms of their resource value and the degree to which they best serve the mission of the college. - RESPONSIBILITY FOR PURCHASES
It will be the responsibility of the Collection Development Librarian to provide faculty/staff with tools for selection of digital resources. - FACULTY/STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS/REQUESTS
All faculty/staff requests for digital resources will be reviewed and ordered on approval by the Collections Development Librarian. - PREVIEWING DIGITAL RESOURCES
The Collections Development Librarian notifies appropriate faculty/staff when preview material arrives and asks for an evaluation of the resources for possible purchase. Resources not selected will be returned to the vendor. - PURCHASING DIGITAL RESOURCES
The Collections Development Librarian initiates purchases of digital resources based on the recommendation of the faculty/staff or LRC Librarian liaison to the content area. - LOCATION OF DIGITAL RESOURCES
Digital resources processed and cataloged by the Library staff may be assigned to other locations, located on a server, or retained in the area where it has the greatest use. - DIGITAL RESOURCES PRODUCED IN-HOUSE
In-house production of digital resources will follow the same processing and cataloging procedures as commercially prepared software.
