BASED ON POLICY NUMBER AND TITLE: SBTCE POLICY 8-7-104: COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND INFECTIONS
Purpose: To explain Trident Technical College’s process for handling communicable viruses and diseases cases among students.
Decisions regarding any change in the status of a student who is known to have AIDS or Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection (HIV) or any communicable virus or disease that may affect the health, safety, or wellbeing of the College community (upon adequate documentation from the student's physician) will be made on a case by case basis by the President with a recommendation from the Vice President for Student Services. Taken into account will be physical condition, neurological development and behavior using a team approach including the student's physician, appropriate public health officials and others deemed necessary.
The identity of any student with AIDS or HIV infection will be confidential.
