Introduction to Fiber Optics
This five-day course provides students with the skills and knowledge to fill needed roles at carriers, construction firms, and broadband providers. This is an entry level course designed for people with little to no experience in the field as it relates to fiber handling and splicing. Network design, splicing, connectorization, field construction for cable deployment, and system turn-up are taught with extensive hands-on practice, including a full system build with testing and trouble shooting.

This course is an introduction to the knowledge and skills of plumbing. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to explain basic plumbing systems and codes, proper use of tools, perform math computations related to plumbing, install and repair different types of pipe, install fixtures like toilets, sinks and faucets, read blueprints, practice safety on the job and communicate effectively with customers, supervisors and co-workers.

South Carolina residents enrolled in critical workforce programs that lead to an industry-recognized credential, certificate, diploma or degree are eligible for the South Carolina Workforce Industry Needs Scholarship (SCWINS). Continuing Education students who meet the criteria and are in a SCWINS eligible program can receive SCWINS tuition assistance. NOTE: SCWINS tuition assistance will only be applied for courses required in the eligible program of study.
How do I apply?
Apply online and a program manager will contact you if your application is approved. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are expended. You can only choose from one of the programs listed in the dropdown menu for "Desired Training Program." If your choice of study is not listed, the class is either full or not being offered. Check back often as programs are added as they become available.
