Frequently Asked Questions
Theacademic advising tool can assist students with choosing a college, planning their courses at TTC so they meet the transfer requirements at the four-year institution, and transfer policies (e.g., deadlines, GPA). Students should consult the academic advising tool while developing a transfer plan to increase their chances of acceptance at the four-year institution and reduce the number of classes that they will need to finish their degree. Choosing the correct courses at the start of your degree can help you save both time and money.
Bothtransfer degrees are designed to meet requirements for the first two years of a baccalaureate degree, but they are suited to different transfer goals. Students planning to pursue a four-year degree in mathematics, science, engineering, or a medical field should consider the Associate in Science program because it requires more math and science courses to prepare you for your major.
If your career will require a four-year degree in fine arts, you should choose the AA degree. If you want a two-year degree in graphic or commercial arts, you may want to explore the degrees offered inVisual Arts.
AA students will meet with a success coach (formerly navigator) in the Student Success Center (formerly The Hub) until they have completed thirty credits. As a second-year student, AA students are assigned to a faculty advisor based on their major at the four-year institution.
By completing the degree before you transfer, you may improve your opportunities for both employment and admission at other institutions. If you transfer before you complete the AA or AS degree, you may be eligible to complete the degree by transferring credits from your new institution to TTC. Contact the dean of your program for more details.
Courses are offered in different modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, and scheduled online meetings). Students can enroll in different course modalities as well as take courses at different campuses. Most students can complete the degree using a mix of these flexible course options.
Please consult the college transfer credit site for information on these topics as well as transcript and test score information.
Students need to earn sixty semester credit hours to complete the AA degree. At least 25% of the credits must be completed at TTC to earn the AA degree. If a student has not met the program requirements, they will need to complete additional courses. While a full-time load is twelve hours per semester, some students prefer to take additional or fewer classes during a semester. Sample timelines to complete the degree in two academic years are below.
