Electrical Line Worker students demonstrate pole-top rescue
Attendees from local utilities, including Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Santee Cooper, Dominion Energy, Sumter Utilities, Coastal Electric and Gregory Electric, spent the afternoon observing students’ skills with climbing techniques, maintenance and repair, pole-top rescue and other on-the-job actions necessary for electrical line workers.
The Electrical Line Worker certificate program takes one semester to complete. The showcase is held twice per year and connects graduating students with utilities looking to hire new employees.
Trident Tech’s Electrical Line Worker—Third Class certificate program prepares students to enter the electric utility industry as an apprentice with a broad understanding of the skills, knowledge, safe work practices and physical ability required to perform line work.
