NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Trident Technical College has named Marshall Connor Vice President of Economic Development, effective Sept. 1, 2026.
In this role, Connor will lead the college’s efforts to strengthen workforce development, business and industry partnerships, government relations, community engagement and continuing education initiatives across the region.
Connor brings nearly 20 years of experience at Trident Technical College and a deep understanding of the college, the regional economy and the workforce needs of employers throughout the Lowcountry. Since joining TTC in 2008, he has served in a variety of leadership roles, including assistant director of admissions, assistant dean of the Berkeley Campus, assistant vice president of Continuing Education, assistant vice president of Education Services, and most recently, assistant vice president of Economic Development and Dorchester Thompson Campus dean.
In his most recent role, Connor worked closely with business and industry leaders to address workforce challenges, identify training opportunities and strengthen relationships with local, regional and state partners. He has represented the college on numerous boards and committees and has played a key role in advancing workforce and economic development initiatives that support the region’s growth.
Connor is widely engaged in regional economic and workforce development efforts. He currently serves on the Charleston Regional Development Alliance Board and has held leadership roles with the Summerville/Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, including serving as chair of both the chamber and its foundation. He has also served on the Trident Workforce Development Board, the Leadership Dorchester Advisory Board and the Dorchester/Summerville Vision Planning Committee, helping strengthen connections among education, industry and community partners.
“Marshall’s knowledge of the college, commitment to student and workforce success, and ability to build strong community partnerships make him well suited for this role,” said TTC President Dr. Vicky Wood. “His leadership will help strengthen our connections with employers and community partners while advancing innovative workforce solutions that support the economic vitality of our region.”
As vice president, Connor will work with college leadership to establish the new Economic Development Division, which will align workforce development, business and industry partnerships, continuing education, government relations and community engagement efforts.
“Marshall has a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing both our college and region,” Wood said, adding, “As we work with our business and industry partners to create innovative cross-sector partnerships, his experience and vision will help position TTC as an even more impactful contributor to the region’s economic success while also providing opportunities for students and meeting local workforce needs.”

Connor holds a master of Education degree and a bachelor’s degree in history from Francis Marion University. Throughout his career, he has led initiatives related to workforce training, economic development, student success and community engagement.
