Trident Technical College (TTC) today announced an expanded partnership with Boeing South Carolina (BSC) to lead the baseline training of Boeing’s Production and Maintenance teammates at TTC’s S.C. Aeronautical Training Center. Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the new five-year contract includes onboarding training for new Boeing teammates and recertifying current teammates to ensure safe and high-quality education for assemblers and inspectors of the 787 Dreamliner.

Dr. Vicky Wood, President, Trident Technical CollegePreviously, BSC’s workforce training was provided through readySC, a division of the SC Technical College System that assists companies with recruiting and training efforts across the state. This new partnership allows TTC and its faculty to work directly with Boeing to provide the space, advanced equipment, supplies, and personnel required to train BSC’s production workforce.

About a dozen TTC trainers and managers will integrate the curriculum into TTC’s operations, ensuring alignment with Boeing’s production goals. TTC will employ up to 100 team members in early 2026 to deliver the training at both the S.C. Aeronautical Training Center and Boeing’s North Charleston site.

Boeing expects to add 1,000 new jobs over the next five years to support its site expansion plans. Following the completion of training at TTC, each Boeing teammate will advance to more specific, on-the-job training at BSC with Boeing Workplace Coaches.

"Jessica Williford, Senior Director, State Advocacy & Global Engagement, Boeing South Carolina By delivering Boeing’s proprietary training program, we are ensuring that local talent is ready to meet the demands of the aerospace industry," said Trident Technical College President Vicky Wood.  “Our contract represents a significant expansion of Trident Tech’s partnership with Boeing and a step forward in providing South Carolina’s skilled workforce for advanced manufacturing. “

“As Boeing South Carolina continues to grow, our partnership with Trident Technical College is essential to building the highly skilled workforce that will carry us into the future,” said Randy Sheppard, BSC’s Human Resources executive director. “Trident Tech’s S.C. Aeronautical Training Center will provide our Production and Maintenance teammates access to world-class training right here in the Lowcountry. This collaboration strengthens our talent pipeline, accelerates our readiness, and supports the long-term success of our teammates, our community, and the 787 airplane program.”

Dr. Tim Hardee, President, South Carolina Technical College System and Dr. Vicky Wood, President, Trident Technical CollegeThis contract is in addition to the 26-credit-hour Aircraft Assembly Technology certificate TTC students can complete in over two semesters. Graduates are eligible for Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) status that enables them to bypass the traditional interview process and advance more quickly into Boeing’s hiring pipeline for certain entry-level positions at Boeing.
