SC LIFE Scholarship

The SC LIFE Scholarship covers up to $2,350 for tuition costs with a $150 book allowance in both the fall and spring semesters at a two-year college. To qualify, you must:

  • Be a South Carolina resident.
  • Graduate from a South Carolina high school with a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Submit official SC high school transcripts to TTC's Admissions office.
  • Complete a SC LIFE Scholarship Affidavit, based on academic year you will be attending TTC.
Note: Developmental or remedial classes do not count toward full-time status.

South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance (SCLTA)

South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance reduces tuition costs for SC residents. When federal grants are not enough to cover tuition, many times lottery tuition assistance covers the rest. To qualify, you must:

Note: LIFE scholarship recipients are ineligible for SCLTA. Students who earned an associate degree within the past five years at a SC technical college are also ineligible for SCLTA.

South Carolina Need-Based Grant

The South Carolina Need-Based Grant (SCNBG) is for the neediest students who have completed the FAFSA the earliest. This grant awards up to $2,500 annually for full-time enrollment. These funds are limited, so be sure to complete your FAFSA as early as possible to be eligible. To qualify, you must:

  • Complete a FAFSA at studentaid.gov and be eligible for the Pell Grant.
  • Submit a SC Need-Based Grant Affidavit.
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours. It can be awarded up to two semesters during an academic year.

Renewal Requirements

  • Complete a FAFSA early at studentaid.gov and be eligible for the Pell Grant.
  • Submit a SC Need-Based Grant Affidavit.
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours and can be awarded up to two semesters during an academic year.
  • If previous award was based on full-time enrollment during entire academic year, student must complete 24 credit hours.
  • If previous award was based on part-time enrollment (6 to 11 credit hours a semester), student must complete 12 credit hours.
  • If student is awarded full time one semester and part time the other semester, student must complete 18 credit hours.
  • If awarded for one semester only as a full-time enrollee, student must complete 12 credit hours.
  • If awarded for one semester only as a part-time enrollee (6 to 11 credit hours) student must complete 6 credit hours.​

NOTE: Students who have earned an associate or bachelor’s degree are ineligible for the South Carolina Need-Based Grant.
