Trident Technical College’s Vice President for Student Services, Dr. Patrice Davis, was chosen by the Lakin Institute to take part in a selective mentored leadership program. The institute offers personal and professional development training to individuals who have demonstrated potential for expanded leadership opportunities within the community college system. The program accepts fewer than 20 participants from across the country each year.

"I am humbled by the opportunity this experience presents and to have been identified as a higher education professional who has demonstrated the potential for expanded leadership roles in the community college sector,” said Davis. “As someone with more than 30 years of higher education experience, I look forward to the transformational leadership skills and learning this opportunity provides."

The Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership, sponsored by the Presidents’ Round Table of African American CEOs of Community Colleges, is a national professional development program focused on strengthening collaborative skills and leadership capabilities through participation in the program of study. The institute was created for community college administrators, serving individuals with the potential to serve in chief executive positions and develop into exceptional leaders. The Thomas Lakin Institute is annually hosted by community colleges that are member institutions of the American Association of Community Colleges.
