Trident Technical College proudly announces that Tanisha Seraphin and Richard Liu have been selected to participate in the South Carolina Technical College System’s inaugural “Becoming a Data Champion” cohort.
This prestigious program, presented by the Association for Institutional Research
(AIR) and hosted by the SCTCS Division of Acad
emics, Student Affairs and Research, is designed to strengthen foundational data skills
among faculty and staff across the state’s technical colleges.
"Data is a powerful tool for driving meaningful change in higher education. This program will help me build the skills to better interpret and apply data in ways that enhance student outcomes and institutional effectiveness,” said Richard Liu, statistician at Trident Tech.
The ability to understand and effectively use data is more critical than ever in
supporting student success both inside and outside the classroom. Through this initiative,
Seraphin and Liu joined 37 other professionals from across the state in a series of
virtual workshops held throughout June and July. Participants gained hands-on experience
with data tools, provided feedback on the system’s new data dashboards and received
recognition as official Data Champions by the S.C. Technical College System.
"Being selected for the ‘Becoming a Data Champion’ cohort is an exciting opportunity to deepen my understanding of data and how it can be used to support student success. I’m looking forward to collaborating with colleagues across the state and bringing new insights back to our campus," said Tanisha Seraphin, dean, School and Community Initiatives at Trident Technical College
The “Becoming a Data Champion” program is made possible through sponsorship by the Association for Institutional Research with funding from Advance CTE’s Postsecondary Data Quality Initiative (PDI 2.0).
