Lowcountry Advanced Manufacturing Institute

The Lowcountry Advanced Manufacturing Institute is a weeklong, full-day summer program for rising high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. It is a prestigious opportunity to gain exposure to the extremely diverse world of advanced manufacturing.

Selected participants hear from industry leaders, tour local facilities, and use state of the art equipment in the South Carolina Aeronautical Training Center at Thornley Campus as they learn about the wide variety of positions in manufacturing, from machining and robotics, to marketing and logistics. Monday through Thursday students spend mornings learning about and getting hands-on experience with current trends and practices in high-tech manufacturing and afternoons touring area facilities. On Friday students present group projects they completed during the week, followed by a catered recognition luncheon.

The week-long full-day program will be offered twice in 2021 during the weeks of July 26-30 and Aug. 2-6.

LAMI is funded through a generous donation from the Bosch Community Fund and through a U.S. Department of Defense grant, National Defense Education Program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education, Outreach and Workforce Initiative Programs, titled BOOMING in STEM. It is free to participants; however, space is limited. Rising high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply online.

Thank you for your interest in the Lowcountry Advanced Manufacturing Institute, however at this time registrations for both Summer 2021 sessions are full. Trident Technical College is no longer accepting applications for the 2021 sessions, but we look forward to offering LAMI again in 2022.
