HTML5 and CSS3

Produce an entire website by learning how Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are written. Get a good foundation on the use of HTML tags and CSS and their relationship to the visual layout of webpages in the browser window. Write solid HTML that will work in all browsers. Students use the appropriate tools to make hand-coding an enjoyable task while learning the tips and concepts of good webpage design and construction. Build upon a basic understanding of HTML and create a multilevel website. Create efficient HTML templates that can be reused and modified as a means of reducing costs. Then dive deeper into CSS to learn how powerful styles can be. Book included

JavaScript

JavaScript is an ideal programming language to use for your first steps in programming. JavaScript allows programmers the capability of enhancing HTML and CSS webpages by adding interactivity and other various concepts. Learn how to create functions, objects, variables and scripts that allow for basic interactivity. A good grasp of HTML and CSS is required. Continue on to learn the document object model, creating and responding to custom events as well as exploring JavaScript and cookies. Then move on to explore Ajax, the creation of JavaScript libraries and integrating JavaScript with other technologies. Prerequisite: Students are encouraged to take HTML5 and CSS3 Levels 1, 2 and 3 before enrolling in these courses. Book included

LAMP/MAMP Level 1 – Introduction

LAMP stack is a popular open source web platform commonly used to run dynamic websites and servers. It includes Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP/Python/Perl, and is considered by many the platform of choice for development and deployment of high performance web applications which require a solid and reliable foundation. Learn how to install, configure and test Apache, MySQL and PHP on a Linux machine. Book included

Object Oriented Programming Levels 1-2

Don't Repeat Yourself (DRY) is one of the most fundamental principles of object oriented programming (OOP) that invokes the use of classes to organize the data and structure of an application. This course provides an overview of what objects and classes are and why they should be used. Prerequisite: PHP Levels 1-3. Book included

Photoshop for the Web

Photoshop is capable of more than simply optimizing an image for the web. This course provides tricks and tips for making a visually cohesive web design as well as planning a web layout and creating elements needed for the implementation of your vision. This is a primer for making your website as visually appealing as possible. Book included

PHP Levels 1-3

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor is a server-side scripting language that is mostly used for web development. Because PHP is one of the simplest server-side languages to use, it is the language of choice for over 80 percent of all websites. This course provides students with a basic understanding of the PHP and exposure to many fundamental programming concepts such as data types, functions and control flow. Prerequisite: LAMP/MAMP Level 1 – Introduction; Book included

RDBMS: Relational Database Management System

This course provides an introduction into databases and the ever popular relational data model. We use MySQL to take a deeper dive into creating databases and using queries. Students also gain an understanding of how to integrate database connection within a web app using PHP. Prerequisite: Object Oriented Programming Levels 1-2

This lab is only open to students in one of TTC’s web design certificate programs. Come to TTC’s Main Campus Bldg. 910 to build your own website. Web design instructor is on hand to answer questions during each session.
