Group Fitness Instructor Certification

Learn how to evaluate and screen individuals for exercise, formulate and implement fitness programs and routines, and evaluate fitness components. This seven-week course includes lectures and hands-on training offered by an industry professional to prepare you for a successful career in the world of physical fitness. Certification: Students take the IFTA (Interactive Fitness Trainers of America) Group Fitness Certification at the end of the course; $100 exam fee is included in course fee

Nutrition Coaching

This course teaches fitness professionals nutritional guidelines for macro and micronutrients; how to determine body fat percentages, lean body mass and body fat weight; how to calculate protein needs based on lean body mass and read nutrition labels properly; and nutrition timing based on training times. Supplementation and hydration is also covered.

Personal Trainer Certification

Become a certified personal trainer. This program is offered in conjunction with World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), which offers one of the top four certifications for personal fitness training. This course does not guarantee a certification, but rather prepares you to take the certification examination. Fifteen hours of classroom instruction includes anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and health screening. Fifteen hours of hands-on practical training at a nearby fitness center prepares you to work with clients one-on-one. Plus, this program includes a 30-hour internship that networks many graduates right into a job. Proof of CPR/AED certification is required before earning the certification.

Strength, Speed and Agility

Interested in improving your personal speed and agility while learning all the techniques to build personal strength and endurance? In the classroom, learn how to understand the dynamics and in the open field, experience what you learn. Dress code is running apparel. The sessions are taught by a professional personal trainer specializing in strength training.

Weight Training

This series of courses (available individually) teaches you how to squat (all variations), bench press and deadlift with proper form and technique. You are taught cueing for you and your clients. If you don’t know what the lift is supposed to look and feel like, you won’t be able to see and correct deficiencies. The sessions are taught by a certified personal trainer, CrossFit Level 1 coach, USAW certified coach and a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist. Location: Select Fitness Center, North Charleston. Books not included.
