Session Topics

KEYNOTE ADDRESS: “Empowerment starts with the power of one…” by Troy Hall, Ph.D.

Throughout the ages, leaders have been charged with the responsibility to motivate, influence, and enable others to attain results that defy their own perceptions of what is possible. How do leaders of social change empower others to ignite passion for a vision greater than themselves? Why is it important to challenge the status quo, engage the heart, or even encourage the follower? Empowerment starts with the Power of One or what "Dr. Troy" calls “The Nehemiah Principle."

“Confidence-Infused Conversations: Your Key to a Happier (and Less Harrowing) Workplace!” by Kaneshi Hart

Do you ever think, "If I could redo that conversation (at work), things could be so much better?" Do you find that sometimes you stress over if, when, or how to approach a tough conversation or ask for what you want from colleagues or management? Do you wish for just a little more confidence to get you through challenging moments? We all do! Today, you will discover that there are specific, yet subtly powerful steps you can take in your work life to change the landscape of how you work and others work with you.

“Own Your Space” by Stephanie Mangini

Stephanie will provide helpful tips to “own your space” in the office.  She’ll help you recognize your unique set of skills and how to market them in your workplace, while building confidence with your presence.

“Self-Reliance When Disaster Strikes” by Thomas Cousins

Don’t wait to be rescued -- save yourself! Learn critical life-saving skills, tips and techniques that will help you survive a variety of dangerous situations and emergencies.

“Speak Up: #METOO” by Peggy Smith

The year 2017 may be remembered in history as the Age of Empowerment. What does that mean to you?  In this session, we will discuss Title VII briefly, but more importantly, we will assist you in moving into this new day. In the early sixties, President John F. Kennedy said “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”  Together we can look to the future, look at the Changes and prepare to move into that future as a Confident, Empowered Workforce.

“The Gentleman’s Guide to Personal Leadership” by Antonio L. Robinson, MA

How have you improved lately? Have you taken inventory of yourself as a way of ascertaining what you are truly able to offer to others? This presentation will focus on self-discovery and going from personal vision to literal reality for the benefit of self and others. I offer this advice as a gentleman and a beneficiary of the aforementioned introspection.
