Asbestos

Asbestos courses offered through TTC meet all requirements for SCDHEC licensing and EPA AHERA/ASHARA accreditation. Initial courses may be required for workers involved with repair and maintenance activities that may disturb asbestos containing materials or building materials that are presumed to contain asbestos during their normal work activities. Refresher classes are also available for workers to keep their licensing up-to-date.

DOT Hazmat Transportation and Security Awareness

This course focuses on the proper handling, packaging, marking, labeling, placarding and transporting of hazardous materials. It also provides an overview of the security requirements found in the Hazardous Materials Regulations.

HAZWOPER

24-hour and 40-hour initial training courses are available as well as the 8-hour refresher. HAZWOPER training is required for employees visiting an uncontrolled hazardous waste operation mandated by the government. Materials included

Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP)

TTC offers initial and refresher courses to help workers gain and keep their certification. Environmental Protection Agency rules apply to contractors who renovate or repair housing, childcare facilities or schools built before 1978. The requirements apply to anyone who could potentially expose children to lead dust during their work and include builders, painters, plumbers and electricians.

Swimming Pool/Spa Operator

SCDHEC's Recreational Waters Department program performs routine inspections and provides technical assistance to public swimming facilities located throughout the state. This course prepares students for these inspections and teaches proper pool/spa maintenance techniques.

Wastewater

Biological Wastewater Short School- A: This course is being offered in partnership with Central Carolina Technical College and the South Carolina Environmental Training Center is delivering the course. Short Schools are intensive training sessions designed as a comprehensive overview for operators of water and wastewater treatment facilities who are preparing for the state certification exam. ABC Need-to-Know criteria for operators are used as the topical outline for each Short School, and Sacramento Manuals are used as reference texts. Handouts, videos, demonstrations and practice tests are utilized in the training program.

 

Physical/Chemical Wastewater Short School – D: This level of Short School helps prepare students to take the Class D Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator certification exam; the student must then go on to apply for licensure separately after the class. To earn a Class D Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License, you must hold a valid Trainee operator certification; pass an examination approved by the SCLLR board; and submit an Experience Verification Form documenting one year of actual operating experience as an operator of a public physical/chemical wastewater system facility. Prerequisite: Student must currently hold a Trainee Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License.

 

Physical/Chemical Wastewater Short School – C: This level of Short School helps prepare students to take the Class C Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator certification exam; the student must then go on to apply for licensure separately after the class. To earn a Class C Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License, you must hold a valid Class D operator certification; pass an examination approved by the SCLLR board; and submit an Experience Verification Form documenting two years of actual operating experience as an operator of a public physical/chemical wastewater system facility. Prerequisite: Student must currently hold a Class D Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License.

 

Physical/Chemical Wastewater Short School – B: This level of Short School helps prepare students to take the Class B Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator certification exam; the student must then go on to apply for licensure separately after the class. To earn a Class B Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License, you must hold a valid Class C operator certification; pass an examination approved by the SCLLR board; and submit an Experience Verification Form documenting three years of actual operating experience as an operator of a public physical/chemical wastewater system facility. Prerequisite: Student must currently hold a Class C Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License.

 

Physical/Chemical Wastewater Short School – A: This level of Short School helps prepare students to take the Class A Physical/Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator certification exam; the student must then go on to apply for licensure separately after the class.
