Cosmetology Continuing Education

Culinary Arts Certificate

 

Train with celebrated Culinary Institute of Charleston (CIC) chefs in a convenient, evening program with successful completion leading to career opportunities, educational advancement and personal growth. To earn a Culinary Arts Certificate, Culinary Arts Certificate, students complete Fundamentals of Culinary Arts and then enter the baking track or cooking track for the remaining two courses. Students may then apply the CEU certificate towards further education at CIC. If furthering studies, student must pass the Online ServSafe® Manager course. Fundamentals of Culinary Arts

Fundamentals of Baking I
Learn fundamental baking techniques including mixing, scaling, proofing and finishing. Make quick breads, artisan breads, pastries and assorted yeast dough products. Learn baker’s percentage, costing and product yield. Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Culinary Arts

Drone Commercial Pilot Training – FAA
This course is designed to help you become familiar with the basics of becoming a Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) Certified Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) and enter the growing field of commercial drone operations. It prepares you for the FAA Part 107 certification exam.

Floral Design Certificate

TTC’s Floral Design courses are for those who wish to work as a floral designer or who simply want to nurture their creative life. With an emphasis on practical, hands-on training, this three-course program helps students understand how to work with flowers, the fundamentals of design and how design methods are applied in a variety of floral styles and arrangement formats. To earn a certificate, students are required to complete in the following order: Floral Design I, Floral Design II and Floral Design III.

Floral Design I

Learn the fundamentals of floral design including line, space, texture, form, color, composition, scale and balance. For those who wish to enter the industry or simply nurture their creative side, this class helps you recognize common flower varieties, create everyday arrangements, and understand how to handle and care for fresh flowers. Interior Design Certificate

Appropriate for career-minded individuals, as well as home enthusiasts, this five-course program prepares students to function as a commercial or residential interior designer. Learn how to incorporate various design elements to create rooms that are functional, safe and beautiful. Gain experience using industry techniques and tools. Hear from working professionals how to land that first job or start a new business. Courses can be taken individually or as part of the certificate track. To earn a certificate, students are required to complete in the following order: Drafting; Interior Design Studio I; AutoCAD/Revit; Interior Design Studio II; and Interior Design Studio III. Note: Some classes may be available in future terms.

 

Drafting
Learn to create room and furniture plans. Topics include reading blueprints, using an architect’s scale, and drafting floor plans and elevations by hand. Prerequisite: Interior Design Studio I; Materials provided

Interior Design Studio I
This course is an introduction to the architectural context and functional requirements of interior spaces. Learn the basics of scale, proportion, form, pattern and texture as it applies to interior design.

AutoCAD/Revit

This course helps students learn basic AutoCAD skills while learning to draft residential type floor plans and elevations in Autodesk AutoCAD software. Learn how to draw walls, windows and doors in plan view and elevation and basic AutoCAD commands based on hand drafting skills developed in Drafting I. Each student is required to draft a room at the end of the course by themselves. Prerequisites: Drafting and Interior Design Studio I.

Interior Design Studio II

Learn the basic rules of decorating. At the end of this course you will be able to look at a room and know what is missing or what is wrong that needs to be changed. The course includes design theory, principles and elements of design, color schemes, psychology of color and designing a room. Prerequisite: Interior Design Studio I

Interior Design Studio III

Learn to design the entire house. Topics include reading blueprints, working with particular furniture styles, mixing patterns and selecting complementary paint colors. Students also learn how to prepare for interviews in the design industry. Prerequisites: Interior Design Studio II; Materials not included
