Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology

68 Credit Hours

The Medical Laboratory Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions in the field of medical laboratory science. Typical jobs include medical laboratory technician in a hospital laboratory setting.

The degree prepares students to take the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) Board of Certification or the AMT (American Medical Technology) Certification exams.  These exams are the nationally recognized credentialing exams for the majority of the medical laboratory employers in accordance with the CLIA’88 personnel standards.  The students are also eligible to sit for state licensure boards in all states with the exception of California upon completion of this program. The credential the students earn upon certification by either exam is Medical Laboratory Technician.
