A Night in the Valley: Most Successful Ever!

The Trident Technical College Foundation's 11th annual A Night in the Valley wine dinner and auction, held Friday, Jan. 31, grossed more than $480,000, making it the foundation's most successful fundraising event ever. The money raised came from sponsorships, ticket sales, silent and live auctions, and a special appeal during the dinner.
Each year the foundation hosts the black-tie event in conjunction with the Culinary Institute of Charleston. The 600 guests in attendance enjoyed a cocktail hour with silent auction and then sat down in the College Center for a four-course meal prepared and served by Culinary Institute of Charleston students. Twelve packages ranging from artwork to vacation getaways were sold during the live auction portion of the dinner.
In honor of the college's 50th anniversary, the foundation asked former Sen. Ernest F. "Fritz" Hollings to attend the event as a special guest. In the early 1960s, then-Gov. Hollings helped found South Carolina's technical college system. Hollings not only attended the event, but also helped the foundation raise money by participating as part of an auction package. A dinner for 10 with Hollings and Dr. Thornley at the Culinary Institute's 181 Palmer dining room sold twice during the live auction for $12,000 per dinner.
The TTC Foundation would like to thank all of the employees and students who worked so hard to make this event such a great success, as well as sponsors, donors and attendees!
