How many terms can I receive LIFE?

You may receive the LIFE Scholarship up to four semesters at a two-year institution following initial college enrollment.

Your four semesters includes semesters you receive the award and it includes any breaks in enrollment after your initial college enrollment (excluding summer).

Your initial college enrollment is when you begin attending college with the exception of your remediation period.  You will be given up to one year (two semesters) for your remediation period.  After that period your initial college enrollment will begin and you may receive LIFE for up to four semesters.

Remediation period- a period in which a student enrolls in non-regular courses and in less than 12 regular credits

Example: If  in Fall 2009 you enroll in ACC 100, BIO 101, MAT 120 and ENG 101, this is a semester of remediation because you have 3 credits of non-regular coursework and 9 regular credits. ACC100 is a non-regular course.  This semester will not count against you for LIFE and it is waived and a period of remediation.

If you continue and enroll into 12 regular credits in Spring 2010, this will become your initial college enrollment and you may begin receiving LIFE.

If you continue in Spring 2010, enroll in non-regular courses and in less than 12 regular credits, this semester will also be waived and is a period of remediation. Your initial college enrollment will begin Fall 2010.

If you decide to have a break in enrollment and do not attend any college in Spring 2010, this semester will become your initial college enrollment.

Summer does not count as a term for eligibility and does not count against you as a break in enrollment.
