Clinical Site Hospital-Specific Orientation and Parking Information

All students are required to complete their assigned Facility Specific In-service Modules that are available on the Care Learning Website. Students may access the website as often as needed to complete the Facility Specific Modules. The instructions for accessing the Care Learning website are located on the nursing webpage at www.tridenttech.edu/nursing.htm > Current Nursing Student Resources > Mandatory In-services – Care Learning > Access Care Learning.

Print and bring your hospital specific CWO to the first day of clinical PLUS any other additional documents listed below for your assigned hospital

Students with clinicals at Trident Medical Center shoul park in the parking garage to the right of the hospital. It is free. Students with clinicals at Summerville Medical Center should park in the back of the lot to the right of the hospital or as specified by your instructor.

Your assigned clinical instructor will notify you by email regarding where to meet on the first clinical day.

TRIDENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE
STUDENT NURSE MUSC CLINICAL ORIENTATION

All students enrolling in NUR 159, NUR 209, or NUR 219 assigned to a clinical group at MUSC will be required to attend a mandatory training demonstration and check off session for POCT testing. The training will be held on the TTC main campus during the first week of clinical. Your clinical instructor will provide you with date, time, and location of the class. All students are required to attend. Please follow the TTC Student Nurse Handbook policy: Dress for Clinical Assignments (Preplanning), Orientation, Training Sessions, http://www.tridenttech.edu/SNH.pdf.

MUSC –MUSC NetID manager will send you an assigned NetID and information on how to activate your password. Please read the message and follow the instructions on how to activate your MUSC account.

MUSC Parking
Students are no longer able to obtain a temporary pass as of march 2013.

You can register for the Hagood park –ride-system ($20.00 registration fee) or park in the MUSC patient and visitor parking facility (hourly rates are posted on the MUSC parking management website at http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/vpfa/operations/Parking/

The Parking management office is located on the second floor of the Bee and President Street garage.

Hospital-Specific Parking Information

When parking at all the downtown hospitals, students may consider riding CARTA. CARTA passes are sold at the Palmer and Main TTC bookstores. See the CARTA webpage: http://www.ridecarta.com/ click on routes.

East Cooper Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) – Parking is free. Student parking is reserved for the area between the red barn and the highway.

Kindred Hospital - Prior to the first clinical day, please arrange parking. Kindred Hospital makes free parking passes available for the Hagood lot. To obtain the free pass, bring your TTC picture ID badge, car make, tag number, and car registration to the MUSC parking office, on the corner of Bee and President Streets.

Mt. Pleasant Hospital Roper St. Francis Healthcare - Park in the lot designated for staff.

MUSC – Prior to the first clinical day, please arrange parking. MUSC makes free parking passes available for the Hagood lot. To obtain the free pass, bring your TTC picture ID badge, car make, tag number, and car registration to the MUSC parking office, on the corner of Bee and President Streets.

Roper Hospital – Since parking passes are limited, parking passes are issued on a first come, first served basis. Students must request the opportunity to purchase a parking pass from their instructor on the first day of clinical.

  1. Print out the Roper Parking Information Packet. The form needed to apply for a parking pass is contained within this packet.
  2. Bring the Roper parking form and vehicle registration information to Access in the main hospital, along with the $25.00 fee.
  3. With the receipt from Access, proceed to the Property Management Department which is located in the Webb Building across the street from the hospital to obtain a temporary parking pass and an access card for the Courtenay Street Garage.
  4. Access card is returned at the end of the semester.

St. Francis Hospital – Park on the right side of the hospital in employee parking lot next to Lowe's.

Summerville Medical Center – Park on the left side of the hospital and enter on the left side.

Trident Medical Center – Parking is free. Park in the garage.

Mandatory In-services (Care Learning) and Drug Screens

Drug Screens:

• Background Check and Drug Screen after admission to the nursing program:  $80.85 - You are required to pay online for both the criminal background check and urine drug screen using either a credit card or a debit card.  Currently the total cost is $80.85. This includes the cost of the urine drug screen and a criminal background check for the previous seven (7) years. Criminal background checks are required to cover all states of residence from the age of 16 to the present.  There is an additional charge for every year over seven (7) years that must be researched.
