Current Events

The LRC subscribes to a number of journals, magazines and newspapers in hardcopy format.  These items are available for in library use only.  However many of the same journals, magazines and newspapers are available through online databases.

Online Databases - The databases listed below all contain journal, magazine or newspaper  articles on numerous topics.  Most databases are updated daily or weekly and therefore outstanding tools to use in locating current event information.  All databases can be accessed both on and off campus.

Academic Search Premier  (Ebscohost)  - Provides scholarly journals and magazines ideal for academic research.
Expanded Academic (Infotrac) -
Provides scholarly journals, newspapers, charts, etc. on various academic topics.
Lexis-Nexis Includes numerous magazines, major newspapers of cities in the United States and major World outlets.
SIRS - Excellent resource for social issues and events, countries, cultures of the world, etc.

When searching for a specific publication use the search tool  TD Net to determine which database includes that publication.   Tutorials on how to use specific databases are located under Tutorials/Guides on the Research page.

Historical Research

The LRC  has numerous books  available for checkout and other online resources on various topics in history. When conducting historical research try to use specific works and phrases or subject terms to provide more relevant search results.  For example,  use "Bolshevik Revolution" instead of  "Russia" , use "World War II" instead of "War".  If there is a specific event or person, try searching the specific event, or the person's name and the event.
