The purpose of the courses offered through The Learning Center Division is to assist students in acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary for their success in curriculum courses. If students' COMPASS or ASSET placement scores fall below the required levels, they must register for Developmental Studies courses and/or Critical Reading. Students enrolled in these courses experience learning that takes place in a technology-enriched environment. Each student receives an Individualized Study Plan (ISP), a set of assignments based on the results of diagnostic testing or assessment. The ISP includes computer tutorials, guided instruction, and self-paced lessons using a variety of media. Instructors work with students to help them pace their individualized assignments so they can complete their ISPs as quickly as they can master the course objectives.
