Bringing Teacher Education Within Your Reach

Thanks to a program called Diverse Pathways in Teacher Preparation, it's simpler than ever to explore and pursue career opportunities in education. By teaming up with the College of Charleston, the Charleston County School District, and the South Carolina Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement, Trident Technical College offers its students ways to experience teaching, master the qualifying exams, and enroll in an affordable program that leads seamlessly into a bachelor's degree curriculum.

Designed Around Your Needs

The Diverse Pathways in Teacher Preparation program is free to all TTC students and serves prospective teachers--especially minorities--at every level from high school to college students and people making a career change.

Classroom Experience

Through the Diverse Pathways program, you can observe teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools. You also become a member of the Future Educators Association, which allows you to meet current teachers, instructors, and other students.

PRAXIS Assistance

The Diverse Pathways program provides assistance to help you master Praxis I, the basic exam for enrolling in teacher education. Free access to the TTC Learning Assistance Center offers you a world of resources, specialized assistance, computer systems, and personal contacts.

Financial Help

With South Carolina Education Lottery Tuition Assistance, a college education is extremely affordable. Plus, as a program participant, you get no-fee PRAXIS tutoring and registration, as well as financial help to attend national conferences and other events.

Networking, Counseling

Information sessions and campus tours help you get to know the College of Charleston, meet college faculty and students, and work with advisors who specialize in helping program students move efficiently toward their teaching degrees and certification.
