Refresher Class

A refresher class can prepare you to do your best on TTC's placement test.

Did you know . . .

• Your placement test scores determine whether you need to take regular college courses or developmental studies courses
• It is to your advantage to be accurately placed in the highest level course possible
• Many students fail to take the placement test seriously and place below their level of ability

Before taking the placement test, you should consider taking the refresher class to get an orientation to the test and review the basic English, reading and mathematics skills being tested. The purpose of this one-day, noncredit class is to prepare you to do your best work on the placement test and thereby ensure accurate placement in college course work. The class is especially helpful if you have not been in school recently; if you are unsure of your skills for college-level work in English language, reading and mathematics; or if you have never taken a computerized test.

When is the refresher class offered?

In order for you to begin the semester on time, and in the appropriate courses, the refresher class is offered at various times prior to each semester's start. You should enroll in the refresher class just before you take the placement test. The dates are:

• Saturday, October 13, 2007, 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, February 23, 2008, 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, June 7, 2008, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, July 12, 2008, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

There is a break for lunch (on your own).

Cost: The refresher class fee is $30. The one-day class is offered on a limited basis through the Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development on Main Campus. Call the Continuing Education office at (843) 574-6152 or The Learning Center office at (843) 574-6378 for more information.

2. Register for the class; choose the best date for you, but one prior to your placement test.
