New Degree Structure Effective Fall 2009

Effective Fall 2009, in compliance with a S.C. State Board for Technical and Comprehensive mandate, TTC implemented a degree structure that better aligns with those of other colleges and universities. Essentially, all associate degrees, diplomas and certificates fall under one of three names—Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS) and Associate in Applied Science (AAS). The majors did not change, only the name of the degree type. For example, the Associate in Industrial Technology – Commercial Graphics became Associate in Applied Science – Commercial Graphics; the Associate in Health Science – Veterinary Technology became Associate in Applied Science – Veterinary Technology. Minimal changes The impact of this change is minimal with no effects on curriculum design, faculty, or quality and method of instruction. The new structure is a name change aimed at simplification and establishing consistency with nationwide models. Graduates will benefit by earning credentials that are more widely recognized.
