Michael Saboe was named Dean of the Culinary Institute of Charleston in January, 2008. He began as an adjunct faculty member in 1997, becoming a fulltime faculty member in 1999, progressing to department head of hospitality and culinary, and being named Director of Operations in 2005. His years in the hospitality industry include the full range from server to owner. He advanced through positions with some of Charleston’s leading restaurants and management groups including the Colony House and The Maverick Group. The advancement continued to his establishing his own two businesses: Southern Soulfood Corporation, Inc. and Club Habana. During recent years, Mr. Saboe has been recognized as SC Hospitality Educator of the Year by the SC Hospitality Association. He holds a bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston and a master's in business from The Citadel. Saboe is a certified hospitality educator (CHE) according to standards achieved through the educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
