3-2-1 Blast-Off (Ages 7-11)

Are you ready to go on a mission to outer space? Campers step into the shoes of a rocket scientist and learn the fundamentals of propulsion and rocket design. Discover the fundamentals involved in launching rockets, and construct and launch your own rockets! Also, learn about the challenges of space travel.

Biology Brainiacs (Ages 9-12)

Enjoy this highly interactive camp with instruction by MUSC's Department of Neurosciences staff as they present brain specimens and discuss the general organization, functions and dysfunctions of the brain. Young scientists can explore and investigate the hidden wonders of the microscopic world. Get a close-up view of bugs, cells, plants and many other specimens.

Crazy Chemistry (Ages 7-11)

Become a mad science chemist! Discover how chemical reactions are everywhere. Mix, mush and brew together different chemicals to create gooey. Campers will become inventors and see and learn how inventors work and why many inventions are created by accident.

Inside, Outside and Everything In-Between (Ages 7-11)

Have an amazing week as we explore some of the body's most important parts, both inside and outside. Learn the basics of the code of life and how cells and their individual parts work together. Learn how the insides of our bodies work and how each of our organs has its own job to do. Have lots of fun learning about atoms, molecules and chemical reactions!

Off Charleston - From Page to Stage! (Ages 8-11) NEW!

Dive into the world of theater with an energetic week of games, improv and focused creativity! Campers learn essential acting tools as they explore creating a character, staging a scene and telling a compelling story. The week ends with a short showcase performance.

Sailing to Charleston (Ages 11-14) NEW!

Research the voyage of Charleston’s first settlers who set out in three ships but only arrived in one (and a small schooner). Where did these early settlers land? What did they find? Why did they come? The camp answers these questions by tracking their voyage using modern-day tools as they connect to artifacts and the outdoors to learn how they did it before Google Maps! Understanding the ships by building models is a key component to the session. Learn how the first 200 people built 30 houses on a high bluff on the river and subsequently moved the whole town eight years later to what is now Charleston. Hands-on activities make learning about Charleston’s beginnings both memorable and fun.

Secret Agent Lab (Ages 7-11)

Campers team up with the Mad Science Crime Scene Lab and experience what it takes to be a true science detective. Use some of the same experiments that a forensic scientist would use. Discover the role of DNA and learn the basics of the code of life. When you are part of this camp you will always be looking over your shoulder to make sure you are not being followed.

 The Wall (Ages 11-14) NEW!

Imagine if your whole neighborhood had a wall built around it. Who do you want to keep out? Who do you want to keep in? Early Charleston settlers built a wall around the entire town. Campers research why they did it (hint: pirates were one reason!), materials used and result. Connect to the outdoors by building a scale model of the early walled city; complete with walls and drawbridges! Use your math and science skills to measure, scale, fortify and test your walled city through writing activities. Will it keep the pirates away?
