To attend this training, you must be currently registered with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) as a security officer with a licensed security company.  

SLED Level I Security Instructor Training

All participants must be currently registered with SLED as a security officer with a licensed security company to attend this training. SLED must approve all participants.

Students will teach a 20-minute block of instruction on a security topic of their choice. Students must achieve a minimum score of 70 percent on both the written examination and oral presentation. Topics include speaking competencies criteria, SLED regulations, security instructor development, fingerprinting, shoplifting and security legals. This course is 40 hours. Once training is completed, the student will be trained to SLED standards to instruct security officers for Security Officer Level I. Prerequisites: Students must have completed four hours of Law and Arrest training. SLED must approve all participants.

SLED Level II/III Security Instructor Training

All participants must be currently registered with SLED as a security officer with a licensed security company to attend this training. Prerequisites: Students must have completed Level I, Level II and Level III training. SLED must approve all participants.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Students will each have a 20-minute block of instruction on a handgun topic of their choice. Students must achieve a minimum score of 70 percent on both the written examination and oral presentation.
