Are you ready to go on a mission to outer space? Campers wstep into the shoes of a rocket scientist and learn the fundamentals of propulsion and rocket design. Discover the fundamentals involved in launching rockets, and construct and launch your own rockets! Also, learn about the challenges of space travel.

Alice 3-D and Video Games (Ages 11-15) NEW!

Learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated movies and simple video games. In Alice, 3-D objects (e.g., people, animals and vehicles) populate a virtual world and campers create a program to animate the objects. Upon completion of the camp, you will create an animation for telling a story or playing an interactive game, or a video to share on the Web and present it to the class on the final day.

Aviation Adventures (Ages 8-11)

Enjoy a week of high-flying adventure. From logging “flight time“ on simulators to building gliders, the basics of aeronautics will be the focus of the week. Campers get their wings upon successful completion of the camp.

Computer Forensics (12-16) NEW!

At TTC's Computer Crime Camp, learn how detectives are able to find evidence of crimes on computers, cell phones and the Internet. Using cutting edge technology, campers take a hands-on approach and work with computer specialists, police officers and special agents to find digital evidence. On the last day of camp, you enter a mock crime scene and put your newfound knowledge to the test. Seize cell phones and computers, analyze them and attempt to find evidence leading you to the suspect. After identifying the offender, testify in our mock courtroom and explain to the judge how you caught the crook! Local, state or federal law enforcement agencies will speak about law enforcement and forensic careers.

Crazy Chemistry (Ages 7-11)

Become a mad science chemist! Discover how chemical reactions are everywhere. Mix, mush and brew together different chemicals to create gooey. Campers will become inventors and see and learn how inventors work and why many inventions are created by accident.

Digital Film Making (Ages 9-11)

Learn the art of story telling using the art of digital film making. Through a series of hands-on activities, take a cinematic approach to capturing moving images, story telling, and D.I.Y. tools to enhance your film making. Starting with basic picture composition, learn to apply the golden mean technique to improve your photography. After learning the basic camera techniques, focus on creating storyboards and shot set-ups, and learn about camera stabilization with tripods and dollies. Build a dolly and steadicam using materials from the local hardware store! Other topics include special FX composition and basic editing techniques. By the end of the week, you will have completed your own camera obscura, flip books, and story boards, and filmed your own miniature movies. The camp finishes with a movie premiere for the parents to watch the scenes campers have filmed all week with the footage available to download onto their own flash drives. Campers must provide a flash drive.

How do environmental issues affect the world we live in? Learn the vital role of the food chain. During this week we explore the effects of daily living. Learn how and why we need to clean up through a hands-on approach. Become a caretaker of the Earth as we look at ways to help reduce our garbage, and discover the science behind solar energy.

Jumping into Minecraft (Ages 8-11) NEW!

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world for entertainment and education. This camp explores the techniques used to excel in the Minecraft game as well as hone the camper's creative skills using the many tools available in the software. Campers focus primarily on how to create and build a functioning community within this educational game.
Prerequisite: basic computer skills in using a mouse and saving files.

Leadership Program (Ages 12-16)

The Leadership Program is a lively and highly interactive series of workshops designed to build your leadership potential. Identify the qualities of an effective leader and, through various activities, learn techniques to enhance your leadership skills. Discover how to strengthen your interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, manage your time, plan and set goals, make decisions and solve problems, improve your presentation skills and network for success. The final day will end with a "graduation party" during which you can practice your skills learned from the entire week on each other, on staff and faculty at the college, and on your parents.

LEGOs in Motion (Ages 7-8)

Build many different models demonstrating physical science and technology concepts, including various powered forces and motion, simple machines and more. Campers build a variety of projects and some examples are a car, golf cart, Model A Ford, semi truck and trailer, rubber band trigger car, snow plow, motorized shopping cart, stand-up scooter, three-wheeler, tow truck, trick car, wagon, wheel barrow and Zamboni. This is a great camp for teaching teamwork and preparing students for engineering and problem-solving challenges.

Let Go of My LEGOs! (Ages 9-11)

This camp uses various components from transportation and amusement park sets to build and program things like traffic signal lights, automated gates, mono rails and a tilt-a-whirl ride. While working in teams campers learn mechanical terms, gear ratios, sensors and program software and are required to build and program assemblies to operate per instructions. This camp covers software and components that are used during FIRST LEGO League competitions. Note: This class covers the same material as previous years.

Mad Machines and Crazy Contraptions (Ages 7-11)

Campers overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all – your mind. Create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. Bring out your inner inventor and come up with crazy, new ways to solve old and new problems.

Mindstorm EV 3 Robotic System (Ages 12-14) NEW!

EV 3 is the newest robotics system from LEGO Mindstorm. It is the software and components used in the FIRST LEGO League competitions. Campers assemble devices using LEGO components and sensors and learn basic programming to bring these devices to life. Campers are given tasks and will have to develop devices to solve the task. The various sensor of the system are discussed and used so the camper can understand the operation and programming requirements of the EV 3 system. Programming includes loops, switches and multitasking within the program. An example is making a robot following a line or detecting different colors.
NOTE: This camp covers the same material as previous camps but uses the new software and sensors in the EV 3 System.

Motion, Potion and Commotion (Ages 7-11)

Find out how simple machines make our lives easier, explore the energy of motion and how energy can be conserved, and learn to send secret messages using special codes.

People and parts sculptures will be made with common packing tape used for shipping. Wrap mannequin parts to make clear plastic sculptures, which can be lit or contain other objects. Learn structure and unique techniques like strip laminating. Phillip Hyman, a local artist, is the instructor for this camp.
