Sailing to Charleston (Ages 11-14) NEW!

Research the voyage of Charleston’s first settlers who set out in three ships but only arrived in one (and a small schooner). Where did these early settlers land? What did they find? Why did they come? The camp answers these questions by tracking their voyage using modern-day tools as they connect to artifacts and the outdoors to learn how they did it before Google Maps! Understanding the ships by building models is a key component to the session. Learn how the first 200 people built 30 houses on a high bluff on the river and subsequently moved the whole town eight years later to what is now Charleston. Hands-on activities make learning about Charleston’s beginnings both memorable and fun.

Space: The Final Frontier (Ages 7-11)

From the earliest flying machines to the first rocket flights, this exciting hands-on program teaches campers to build many different flying devices, discover how Newton’s Laws of Motion help explain how things move and how rockets fly, and show them how amazing our Milky Way is. Experience the laws of motion and gravity, and see how they work in space, in the air – and on the ground!
