Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Review

This course helps prepare medical coders for the AAPC CPC exam. The CPC exam is a moderate-level coding certificate that can be taken by properly prepared beginning coders and experienced coders alike. Coders with fewer than two years of work experience that pass the CPC are considered apprentices until they have gained work experience. This course presents material that is necessary to pass the CPC. ICD-9 CM and CPT coding fundamentals are reviewed and the application of the official coding guidelines and the NCCI policies are practiced. This course presents material that is necessary to pass the CCS. It explores the use of ICD-9 CM and CPT coding as it is used for reimbursement purposes in hospitals. This course helps prepare medical coders for the AHIMA CCS-P exam. The CCS-P exam is a mastery-level coding certificate - it is not an entry-level exam. (For an entry-level AHIMA exam see the CCA.) This course presents material that is necessary to pass the CCS-P. ICD-9 CM and CPT coding fundamentals are reviewed and the application of the official coding guidelines and the NCCI policies are practiced. Other aspects of the coding profession are presented as they relate to the exam content as outlined in the AHIMA Candidate Handbook for the CCS-P.
