Teacher Continuing Education

The Teacher Renewal Plan for teacher recertification became effective with the 2004-05 school year.  This plan is only for teachers currently employed by a South Carolina public school district.  For the first time, a portion of an eligible teacher's education hour requirements may be taken via continuing education courses. These CE courses are available in our Main Campus classrooms and also via the Internet with more than 600 relevant online courses. All meet Options 6 and/or 10 requirements of the Teacher Renewal Plan. Public School District teachers should take care to get their selected course topics pre-approved by their staff development official. Certificates of completion are provided for self-documentation of hours.

These courses provide organizational, leadership, language and computer technology skills. The online courses are especially convenient as each offers an average of 23 contact hours toward the maximum 60 CE hours allowed. Most are instructor-led, self-paced and available on the Internet 24/7.
