A+ Certification, a testing program sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), certifies the competency of computer service technicians. Major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications back the program. To become certified, you must pass two tests: A+ Essentials and one elective. Choose the elective from the following courses: A+ Depot Technician, A+ Information Technology Technician and A+ Technical Support Technician. Those who pass receive a certificate. This course is one of the elective courses required by CompTIA for the A+ Certification. It is targeted towards those individuals who work or intend to work in a help desk or call center environment. This course expands on the topics discussed in the A+ Essentials course. Exam # 220-603. Prerequisite: A+ Essentials.

The Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) certification is the first level in the Cisco Career Certification Program. The certification is the first step to achieveing the CCNA certification.

Recommended prerequisites:

• Familiarity with basic PC components, CD-ROM drives, tape backup drives, video adapters, and serial and parallel ports is required.

NETWORK+ CERTIFICATION

This course covers the fundamentals of networking, including the OSI model, networking concepts and terminology, types of networks, cables and topologies. At the end of this course you will be able to correctly identify the various network topologies, protocols and components that comprise a network environment. The course also includes the basics of broadband technology.

This six-session course on the intermediate levels of networking includes an overview of the basics plus sharing resources on a network, securing a network, maintaining and troubleshooting, differences in network design, and using a server, as well as connectivity devices and intermediate wireless networking.
