About Continuing Education and Workforce Development

Continuing Education is a vital component of the SC Technical College System. The system consists of 16 two-year colleges that offer both credit and degree earning courses as well as CEU-earning continuing education courses. Also part of the SC Technical College System is Apprenticeship Carolina and readySC, two integral entities that provide workforce enhancing services.

Our Services:

The TTC Continuing Education Business Solutions team is available to meet with your company’s stakeholders to discuss training opportunities within your organization. We can also perform a free plant walk-through with a report on areas of opportunity.

Enterprise Zone Act

The Enterprise Zone Act is one of the best tools you can have in your training department to help make your training budget go even further by recouping up to two-thirds of the money you spend! EZA is a retraining job credit that can help businesses stay competitive as you work to keep your business growing!

EZA provides a reimbursement for funds spent for training production line employees, first-line supervisors and equipment/maintenance technicians. The training can cover a range of topics from introducing new technology, annual safety training, maintenance and repair training, as well as supervisor training for front-line supervisors.

The credit is allowed for up to $1,000 reimbursement per qualified employee per year. We have helped clients save thousands of dollars!

Apprenticeships and Sector Partnerships

Trident Technical College provides services to assist your company in developing apprenticeship programs, with the formal learning component consisting of academic or continuing education courses. We will also work closely with Apprenticeship Carolina to assist in registering your apprentices with the U.S. Department of Labor. The state of South Carolina offers an incentive to qualified programs by providing a $1,000 state tax credit per apprentice, per year for up to four years.

The sector partnership concept provides employers the opportunity to partner with other businesses to form a class that is funded by the consortium. Greater flexibility in the number of employees that can be registered and a sharing of the overall costs makes this a win/win scenario for supporting workforce development and effectiveness. Examples of programs that can be built for your organizational demands include training for industrial maintenance mechanics, electrical and instrumentation technicians and fiberglass finishers.

Assessments and Testing

Does your workforce have the skills needed to drive continuous improvement, reduce waste, improve operating results and build customer loyalty? Are you hiring workers who have the drive and capabilities of improving their skills through focused training? TTC’s Business Solutions Group provides highly reliable assessment testing services designed to provide you with a clear understanding of current and future training needs designed to enhance workforce effectiveness.

Business Skills

Business Soft Skills

Employees want to feel that they provide positive contributions for your business’ success. Strong business soft skills are intangible yet vital personal attributes that differentiate the good employee from the great employee. Invest in your team to sharpen their soft skills toolbox – watch them gain empowering and essential competencies in areas such as problem solving, time-management, leadership, team building, conflict management, communication, influence, ethics and more.

The TTC continuing education sessions are facilitated by professional, experienced and engaging individuals who focus on fulfilling the potential in each participant. Our Business Solutions team will work with your schedule and we are flexible in regards to the venue to use for training purposes. We will also spend time with you and your team to personalize the training for your organization’s specific areas of opportunity.

Business Technical Skills

There are business technical skills that every professional should possess and others which are more career-specific. We realize the importance of developing and keeping these skills honed for optimal employee contribution. Advances in technology and even time gaps contribute to the need to consistently reassess training in technical business skills.

The TTC Continuing Education Business Solutions team will work with you to discuss areas of training and retraining for your team in areas including:

Trident Technical College’s (TTC) Division of Continuing Education not only provides classroom training and certification preparation for publicly offered programs for nurse aides, medical assistants, medical coding professionals, emergency medical technicians and many more, we also provide opportunities for  your business to seek health care related training specific to the needs of your organization.

Do you perform most in-service trainings for your own medical staff, but need to mix in additional training? Are you a manufacturer that requires first responder and in-service training for a group of on-site employees? Would you like CPR, first aid and AED training for your organization, regardless of industry? TTC has the capacity to provide a variety of health care training services for your organization.
