Church Security

This awareness workshop benefits religious leaders in the community. Learn about staff training, policy and procedure development, security assessments, protecting offerings, surveillance techniques recognizing different kinds of threats, and security team development. Lt. Frank Jackson, licensed officer, conducts the workshop. Materials included.

Constable In-Service Training

Constables must take this course each year to renew their constable commission. It consists of three hours of legal updates, two hours of civil liability and four hours of firearms training and qualification. Constables must score 75 percent or above on the written examination and qualify with their choice of weapons. Book included.

In-Service Training Officer Annual Recertification - Part 1 and Part 2

Part 1: This portion of the annual recertification is for all private security training officers and is available on our website and on the Tri-County Technical College and Florence-Darlington Technical College websites also.


Part 2: This portion of the annual recertification is for officers employed by companies requiring handguns. Ammunition not included in course fee.

S.C. Constable Training

Courses cover policy and procedures, laws of arrest, search and seizures, crisis intervention, evidence, officer survival, handling prisoners, constitutional law, juvenile procedures/child abuse, police community relations, police communications, civil liabilities, ethics, and firearms. Also included are defensive tactics and weapons retention training. Prerequisites: Must have authorization letter from SLED Regulatory Services to register. Students must make a 70 or above on the final exam and pass the firearms training/range qualifications. Public trust, public safety and accountability by law enforcement agencies demand that commissioned state constables be of good character/reputation and have no significant criminal record or unsuitable background. Proper forms for pre-enrollment will be sent for completion prior to class. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. Candidates must first request an application packet from SLED (803.896.7015). Upon submission of the application packet, the candidate may enroll in this course. Participants need to provide their own handgun in one of the following calibers: .38, 9mm, .40, .357 or .45. They also need a holster and 500 rounds of ammunition prior to firearms training. SLED Primary Basic Instructor Development

All participants must be currently registered with SLED as a security officer with a licensed security company to attend this training. Students teach a 20-minute block of instruction on a security topic of their choice. Students must achieve a minimum score of 70 percent on both the written examination and oral presentation. SLED must approve all participants. Materials included.

SLED Primary Plus Instructor Development

All participants must be currently registered with SLED as a security officer with a licensed security company to attend this training. Prerequisite: SLED Primary Basic Instructor Development. SLED must approve all participants. Location: Cadre Security. Materials included.
